    The successful candidate will report to the Head of Medical Services as part of the multi-disciplinary performance team. Working primarily with the Wigan Warriors academy program and assisting with support for first team and reserve team fixtures and training cover, duties will include:

    • Assessment, Screening and Rehabilitation of all Wigan Warriors academy players.
    • Design and implement management plans for all Academy level players.
    • Provide Pitch-Side Care for Academy and Reserve League Matches
    • Appropriate Record-Keeping of All Injuries.
    • General Department Management and Support Senior Staff

    You will ideally have a minimum of 1 year post-graduate experience and have some experience of working within a rugby league or a professional sports team environment. Communication and interpersonal skills are crucial to the role. Current RFU/RFL pitchside qualification or equivalent is desirable along with a comprehensive CPD Portfolio with evidence of interest in sports medicine/sports physiotherapy.

    The post-holder will be a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist, and registered member of The Health and Care Professions Council.

    Job Description

    Attend every Reserve and U18s match and provide all physiotherapy care required

    Attend all First Team matches, to assist the Head Physiotherapist in all duties

    The Graduate Physiotherapist will assist the physiotherapy department, who are responsible for the delivery of physiotherapy support services to Millfield Pupils involved in a wide variety of sporting activities. The successful candidate will be involved in clinic delivery, pitch side cover, attend sport training sessions, day to day administration, communications, diary management, pupil screening and result assessments to formulate realistic prehabilitation and rehabilitation plans. This role also engages with the school boarding programme and other duties will include supporting within a boarding house or within the campus facilities during some evenings and weekends.

    A key part of this role is to provide high quality physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation of injured pupils, to return them to optimum fitness in the shortest time possible.     An exciting opportunity has arisen for a physiotherapist to join the medical team at Sheffield Eagles Rugby League Football Club.

    This is a part time post with a professional rugby league club who play in the RL Championship.  You will join a Performance Department that includes sports medicine doctor, current head physiotherapist, sports rehabilitation therapists,  nutrition and S&C staff.  This coming season games will be either Friday (home) or Sunday (away) with training either two or three times a week depending on game day. Duties will be shared with current head physiotherapist. You will need to have passed the rugby league IMMOFP pitch side trauma course or equivalent to enter the field of play, this will be arranged via the club if required.

     

    Duties will include but not limited to

    • Match day & training pitch side cover (can be shared with other staff)
    • Assessment, acute management and rehabilitation of injured players
    • Communicate & liaise with S&C and coaching staff regarding injury status and rehabilitation progress.
    • Facilitate & monitor return to training and return to play in conjunction with S&C and coaching staff.
    • Screening and injury reduction programmes
    • Concussion management
    • Be involved in all aspects of player welfare
    • Maintain and promote high professional standards of discipline, respect and behaviour of all staff and players
    • Keep appropriate records in line with medico-legal requirements and to facilitate good communication
    • Ensure mandatory medical equipment is maintained and up to date

     

    You will have the support of the current Head Physiotherapist who has extensive experience in Rugby League and a member of the IMMOFP faculty (RL pre hospital trauma course) and will also be available for mentoring and CPD.

    Remuneration will be negotiated with respect to experience and level of workload undertaken.

     

    Essential criteria

    • CSP member and HCPC registered
    • Confident working both alone and as part of a team
    • Good communication skills
    • Ability to work under pressure

    Desirable Criteria

    Reporting to:            Operational – Head of Rugby and Head of Athletic Performance.

    Job Purpose: To deliver best practice sports physiotherapy services to the Harlequins   Rugby Squad based in Surrey Sports Park and Twickenham Stoop. You will provide clinical management of the rugby playing squad with the assistance of medical staff and a Sports Physician.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Clinical

    Ensure all aspects of player care are monitored including prehab, rehab, fitness assessments and treatment.

    Act independently to assess, analyse and provide a clinical diagnosis for all injured players to determine their need for physiotherapy intervention.

    Support and mentor junior Physiotherapists and Sports Therapists to develop physiotherapy services to maximise player care and efficient use of resources.

    Monitor activity and support the Head of Athlete Performance to prioritise resources to meet service demands without compromising patient care.

    Be actively involved in clinical audit to support the club’s clinical governance strategy.

    Assist in development of, and implement, managerial policies to promote a fair, consistent and safe working environment.

    Liaise with a range of individuals, internal and external to the organisation, to ensure effective service delivery.

    Comply with health, safety and other regulations.

    Ensure RFU minimum medical standards criteria are met for annual compliance evaluation.

    Educational

    Develop and update clinical knowledge and skills to ensure delivery of evidence-based care.

    Provide training and advice to all physiotherapy staff.

    Support physiotherapy in-service to promote personal development.

    Supervise the clinical training of undergraduate and postgraduate
physiotherapy students as required.

    Be responsible for appraisal of junior members of team on a 6-monthly basis.

    Communications and Relationships

    To communicate with RFU medical staff regarding the injury status of international players.

    To communicate and develop an effective relationship with strength and conditioning staff.

    To communicate with the Head Coach and assistants with regards to injury and fitness status of all players on a regular basis.

    To communicate and develop an effective relationship with the Sports Physician to ensure the highest level of care is delivered to the playing squad.

    To communicate and develop an effective relationship with all third-party medical providers to ensure the highest level of care is delivered to the playing squad.

  • Graduate Physiotherapist - Hertfordshire - Closing 5th November 2018

    Description:

    Bodybalance Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic have an opportunity available for a graduate physiotherapist to work with an elite netball team. The role is predominantly matchday cover in January-April, but also includes some pre-season fixtures in November/December. Most fixtures are on Saturdays and travel is required for approx. half of the matches (transport can be provided).

    The role is offered as a standalone position, though there may be a longer term opportunity for additional work in our clinic depending on the experience and skills of the applicant. The position is paid and can be either in an employed or self-employed capacity (rate is competitive, exact amount is TBC). All necessary equipment for the role will be provided.

    You will need to communicate effectively with the coaching staff and report back to the lead physiotherapist with an update after each game. Further opportunities may be available for assisting with the cover of the senior squad. Support and mentoring will also be available to help improve your skills over the season.

    Essential criteria:

    Qualified physiotherapist with HCPC registration

    CSP membership

    Commitment to provide cover over the whole season

    First aid qualified and experience with managing acute injuries

    Taping skills

    Knowledge of concussion management protocols

    An interest in sports and a desire to actively contribute to a team’s success

    Successful applicants will be required to undertake DBS clearance

    Preferable attributes:

    Experience working with young female athletes

    Previous experience working pitchside with a sports team

    An understanding of the rules of netball

  • Physiotherapist Part Time - British Gymnastics - Closing 2nd November

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time physiotherapist to work for British Gymnastics at an elite gymnastics club in South Essex in the lead up to the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

    The physiotherapist will be responsible for the delivery of physiotherapy support services to nominated World-Class Programme artistic gymnasts at the club.

    The successful candidate will work closely with the lead physiotherapists from both the men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics disciplines in order to maintain consistently excellent clinical care to each gymnast.

    Essential Criteria:

    HCPC and CSP membership

    Current pitch side trauma certificate (LUBAS, RFU, FA or equivalent)

    3+ years experience working within a sporting environment

    Excellent communication skills

    The role will require the successful candidate to undertake between 4 and 8 hours of clinic time per week, spread over 2 days, at South Essex Gymnastics Club, Basildon, Essex.
